Creative and competitive industries VS Education

I have a hell of a lot to learn myself but with the small amount of experience I've had with industries and work so far... Here's my thought of the day for those in education wanting to work in competitive industries now or in the future…

It's funny to think you spend three years working towards a degree which teaches you about ideas, concepts and spending days/weeks/months over a piece of work... And all though all of that contributes massively to your work ethic and imagination etc, in reality (in industry) you're expected to turn around a piece of work within a matter of hours, or days at the most!
Luckily I was able to realise this pretty early on whilst still at university... But now, having graduated... if there's one thing I could say to anybody studying in education, at what ever level and across all different types of courses...
Do other 'stuff' as well as your degree/qualification.
In competitive industries especially, you can't be so naive to think that a degree will get you a job (sometimes it will, sometimes it won't). Think about what will make YOU stand out from the next person with the same degree as yourself.
