On Friday 14th March 2014, I photographed Example's Manchester Academy show as part of the 'Ultimate Weekender', which consisted of 6 shows, over three nights in three different cities.
The weird thing was, the last Example show that I photographed was the first gig I ever photographed... 4 years ago! And it was back at exactly the same venue; Manchester Academy 2. Being stood in the pit waiting for him to come on, I remembered that same moment, four years ago when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but I had taken the opportunity without even a second thought - and yep, the photos were terrible but I'll never forget that first gig and will always be so thankful to Elliot (Example) and Mark Surridge for giving me the chance, because I'm not sure I would be where I am now without having that initial opportunity.
Here are two photos from the first gig and two from Friday… See if you can guess which is which.. Ha!! I can't believe that the same camera has produced all of these.
