Meet Nina Nesbitt

I have done a little questions and answer session with the lovely Nina Nesbitt, as part of my current uni brief looking at up and coming artists.

Tell me one thing about you that not many people know
I used to do gymnastics for Scotland and was convinced one day I could be a professional gymnast but I decided music instead, I used to spend about 20 hours a week in a gym when I was 13 haha.

Have you always wanted to be a singer, if not what did you want to be?
I have always wanted to be a singer, but I’ve never really believed I could do it at this level as it's extremely hard to get in to. I often thought about fashion design or psychology until last year when I was given the opportunities to do music, which I’m very grateful for.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
I don't have a particular person or thing, it's more just what I personally want to achieve in music, which is lots of success so it makes me very driven. Also just things that happen in daily life inspire me to write etc.

What advice would you give somebody who wanted to follow in your footsteps?
Just to keep going no matter what anybody says and don't give up on your dreams. You need to have a strong mind and be very hard working and passionate about what you do.

What do you think is the main reason as to why you have started to become more successful?
A variety of things, radio play, being able to support artists such as Example & Ed Sheeran, being able play alongside such established artists like Pixie Lott, Rizzle kicks, Jessie J at arenas have given me an incredible platform to an audience I would never otherwise reach at this point. Also releasing my own live take EP on iTunes and being active on twitter and Facebook.

What is your main goal for 2012?
For 2012 is to record and release a lot more of my own music and share it with people around the world. Carry on touring and play many more festivals.

Is there one thing that stands out against all the others in your musical adventures so far?
It would be the 2 week European tour supporting Ed Sheeran along with Passenger also, so far in 2012 has been the most amazing experience getting to see all the different countries and meeting lots of different people. I'd love to do it again. I'm very much looking forward to supporting Example on his arena tour also, I think that will be a real high light.
